Drogheda based vocalist Tommy Tomad and his crew TFCLIQUE are championing a new Afrobeat sound in Ireland and the West African beats are a real treat.
In his new single called ‘Goosebumps’ Tommy wears his heart on his sleeve with a feel-good anthem that explores the emotions surrounding young love.
The track is about Tommy’s first encounter with love and his expression of this feeling is more melodic than lyrical, leading the listener through a heartfelt and emotional journey as he reveals what, if not who, has given him ‘Goosebumps’.
Produced by Soundchef the track uses a fusion of jazz, funk, highlife, psychedelic rock and traditional afrobeat.
With different textures and sound palettes, Tommy narrates his story, layering enticing vocal and melody rhymes to incite shivers and ‘Goosebumps’.
Producer Soundchef says: “The record is about having a good time. Tommy Tomad sang beautifully on this banger with the way he was able to find distinctive pockets in the song.”
Since exploding onto the scene with crew TFClique, Nigerian born Tommy has been paving the way for Afrobeat and afro swing in the island of Ireland.
Making his debut with the ‘Sweet Dreams Tape’ followed by a feature on ‘Jayie’ on the highly accredited’ Organised Mess’ album by Evans Junior in 2018. As a result of his rising popularity, Tommy supported acts like Adekunle Gold, Oxlade and Wande Coal on their arrival to Ireland.
