Disappearance and Murder of Kyran Durnin – Gardaí searching premises in Hand Street

Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of six year-old Kyran Durnin have this morning, Wednesday 26th February 2025, commenced a search of a premises in Hand Street, Drogheda.

The search is expected to last a couple pf days during which time thehouse will be subject of technical and forensic examinations.

The purpose of the search is to discover any evidence which might provide us with information as to Kyrans’ current whereabouts or what has happened to him.

Investigating Gardaí say that to date they have received extensive support from the public but despite  this and their extensive and ongoing enquiries, An Garda Síochána have been unable to locate Kyran who would now be 8 years old.

“An Garda Síochána is aware of ongoing extensive public commentary on this investigation, including speculation, rumours and theories on what may have happened to Kyran, most of which is inaccurate and misinformed” said a spokespeson.

“Such ill-informed public commentary is not only disruptive to the Garda investigations but also adds to the trauma experienced by victims’ families.

Digging equipment is delivered to investigating Gardaí in Hand Street.

“An Garda Síochána continue to appeal to the public, notwithstanding all the information that is in the public domain, do not assume that the investigation team know the information that you may have.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team. This information will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The investigation is ongoing.
