Development Perspectives is one of Ireland’s 26 SDG Champions

The Drogheda-based Non-Governmental Organisation,  Development Perspectives (DP), has been chosen as one of 26 organisations appointed by Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan TD, as a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Champion for 2023-2024.

An SDG Champion acts as an advocate and promoter of the SDGs and sets a good example of how an organisation can contribute to the SDGs and integrate them into their work and activities.

Other organisations to be chosen as SDG Champions include An Post, the FAI, Peter McVerry Trust, RTE, and TESCO Ireland.

Development Perspectives has been working towards the SDGs since 2016. Since then, the organisation has engaged 125 Advocates, over 60 secondary schools and hosted two National SDG Roadshows, along with workshops for Deloitte Ireland and EirGrid. Through information packs centred on the Global Goals over 3,300 subscribers are engaged monthly.

Development Perspectives CEO Bobby McCormack said of the appointment:

“Raising awareness and understanding of the goals across Ireland is crucial. You can’t implement what you are not aware of or understand. DP looks forward to using our experience as educators to engage and involve more people in the story that is the SDGs.”
