Details of Drogheda’s 2025 St Patrick’s festivities announced

At a reception in the Marcy Hotel last night, Committee Chairperson Sarah Taaffe announced details of the Drogheda St. Patrick’s weekend festival which gets underway on March 14 with events each day leading up to the parade on March 17.

Thanking the parade sponsors and participants for their support Ms Taaffe said: “your commitment to our community allows us to come together and celebrate in such a grand fashion” she said.

“We must also acknowledge the incredible effort and creativity of the companies and organisations that have entered floats to this year’s parade.

“Your hard work and dedication bring so much joy and colour to our celebration and we are grateful for your participation.

“As we watch the parade go by, let’s remember the importance of unity and togetherness. St. Patrick’s Day is a time for us all to come together, to share in our heritage and to look forward to a bright and prosperous future.”

Sarah had a special mention for this year’s parade Marshalls Drogheda United headed by team captain Ryan Brennan.

The Chair of Drogheda United, Deputy Joanna Byrne, said that one of the most important things to the club is civic pride and she remembered with warmth the outpouring of pride from people of all walks of life when the Drogs won the FAI Cup and the amazing reception they received throughout the town.

“Standing on the stage looking at the huge turnout was one of those “pinch me” moments” she said. “It’s going to be an equally special moment when we bring the FAI Cup with us as Grand Marshalls of the parade.”

Mayor Paddy McQuillan said that the Patrick’s Day parade is an important part of the social fabric of the town, an amazing and vibrant intercultural event.
