Sinn Féin is to run an all-woman team in the upcoming local elections following the announcement that well-known local woman Debbie McCole is to run alongside party colleagues Joanna Byrne, Laura Clinton and Joanne Thompson.
Debbie has lived and worked in Drogheda all her life and now, having raised her family, she is committing herself to working for the people of Drogheda to improve services and conditions in the town.
Commenting on the announcement Imelda Munster TD said:
“I am delighted that Debbie will be running for Sinn Féin, joining Joanna Byrne, Laura Clinton and Joanne Thompson as a candidate for the party.
“I believe that Debbie will be a strong, outspoken voice for the people of Drogheda and will bring a fresh perspective to the council. She will be a welcome addition to an already strong Sinn Féin team.
“Given her experience as both a paramedic and a long-standing member of the Boyne Fisherman’s Rescue and Recovery Service, Debbie knows first-hand the problems we are experiencing in the town.
“These issues include the derelict buildings on West Street and the traffic chaos entering and leaving the town which puts people off shopping and dropping into the town for social occasions.
“Debbie is a hard working community activist who will bring a new, local voice to the council if elected. She is also a strong advocate for accountability and transparency.
“I believe Debbie will give everything to ensure that the people of Drogheda get the representation they deserve, and I look forward to campaigning with her in the coming weeks.”
