DDS4OP trishaw service returning in June

When the Drogheda and District Services for Older People (DDS4OP) launched their Trishaw service in 2019 people of a certain age and those with mobility issues were excited at the prospect of being whisked off along the newly resurfaced ramparts for a pleasant trip along the River Boyne.

The scheme got off to a flying start but the dreadful Covid pandemic soon put a stop to their joy and before long they were being cocooned in their own homes or confined to barracks in nursing homes.

So it is great to hear the news that DDS4OP are to recommence the service in a couple of weeks time.

“We are starting our Trishaw service next month” Dave Turner of DDS4OP told Drogheda Life this morning.

“We will be running two Trishaws starting off on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

“The route will be starting in Dominic’s Park going along the greenway to Oldbridge House, having a 15 minute break and then back again.

“We are especially interested in taking older people who have been isolating as well as the regular clients from last year, all of which will have to be fully vaccinated.”

To book a trip please phone the office in the Haymarket 041-9847 764, 086 3772 777 or 1800 200 100.

There is no charge for this service.

Your chariot awaits… DDS4OP volunteers and the two Trishaws are ready resume their service next month.
