Credit Union 2021 Art Competition opens for entries

This year’s theme is “Imagine”

Drogheda Credit Union is inviting young artists of all ages to enter this year’s National Credit Union Art Competition which was launched today.

This year’s theme “Imagine”, encourages people to explore their thoughts, hopes and dreams, and portray them on paper or canvas.

Young local artists have enjoyed great success over the last few years with several of them winning prizes at Chapter and National level.

Now in its 38th year the competition attracts up to 30,000 entries through 300 Credit Unions nationwide and caters for all ages.

There is also a Special Category for those with physical or intellectual disabilities.

Please note the closing date is Thursday 7th October and late entries cannot be accepted.

To be considered for judging, entries must be submitted in either A3 (420 x 297mm) or A2 (594 x 420mm) and landscape orientation. Portrait oriented entries will be disqualified.

The entry can be drawn or painted in pencil, charcoal, pen or ink, felt-tip markers, crayon, pastel, water colours, gouache, acrylics, oils, poster colour or collage. Prints done from a lino block, wood block or any other method may also be submitted. No computer aided design (CAD) will be accepted, nor pieces of art under glass.

Local and Chapter stages of the competition will be judged by local credit unions, who may enlist the help of local artists. The National Final, will be judged by three high profile artists who look for originality, creativity and inspiration throughout the pieces.

The Additional Needs Category will be judged by an artist who specialises in teaching art for people with disabilities. Entries to the Additional Needs Category are invited from children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities.    Entrants in this category are not required to use the theme.
