Anyone who drives in Drogheda, or anywhere in County Louth for that matter, will know only too well that many road markings have faded away with parking bays, zebra crossings, yellow lines all over the town having all but disappeared in some places.
So, like Councillor James Byrne, they will be delighted that an extra €100,000 has been allocated to repaint road markings around the county separate to what is normally spent out of the general maintenance budget.
“The work is to commence early in the New Year, weather permitting” says Councillor Byrne.
“I appreciate that it won’t stretch too far but I’m hoping that priority areas such as the speed limit signs on Marley’s Lane road itself will be done.
There is also an additional €50,000 approximately to repaint parking bays, double yellow lines and related signage. I believe the area around our schools should be given priority for this extra funding.
