Boyne Valley Camino walk in aid of Drogheda ABACAS Special School

The Boyne Valley Walking Group are leading a group walk along the 25km Boyne Valley Camino route in aid of the Drogheda ABACAS Special School for Children with Autism on Saturday 28th August.

This walk is suitable for walkers of all levels and is a thoroughly enjoyable day while raising much needed funds for the Drogheda ABACAS Special School for Children with Autism and also Autism Support Louth & Meath Youth Clubs.

“All our youth clubs and summer camps have remained open since June 2020 being attended weekly by over 70 children.  At the same time, we were unable to hold our usual fundraising events” Jacinta Walsh said at the event launch last night.

“All funds will be used towards the provision of activities and supports for the children, teenagers and young adults with autism who attend our school and clubs.

“There are a limited number of places available for this very special event so please register on the attached link to secure your place – registration charge is €10 which confirms your place and Camino Passport.  CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. We would appreciate if all walkers could raise a minimum of €100.

Last night’s launch, which featured a special performance by the Youth Club Drummers led by Kieran Gallagher of KaDaKaDa Boom Arts, took place in Autism Support Louth&Meath’s newly planted biodiverse sensory garden which has been supported by Louth Leader and beautifully landscaped by D&A Blooms. The children attending the summer camps are getting great enjoyment from the garden already.

Everyone really enjoyed the lively and uplifting outdoor performance by the Older Youth Club who have been working with Kieran for the past year on percussion and samba drumming.

“We are very grateful to the Boyne Valley Walking Group who developed the Boyne Valley Camino for leading this fundraising Camino walk in aid of ABACAS Jacinta said.

“Its a truly unique experience and wonderful to have an official Camino route on our doorstep.  We really appreciate their efforts helping us with fundraising as we haven’t been able to hold our usual events for the past two years.”
