Boyne AC juniors acquit themselves well at Ace 5K

Boyne AC’s talented junior athletes turned out in force for the Ace 5K, braving damp, cold, and foggy conditions to deliver remarkable performances that showcased the strength and spirit of this growing club.

Wearing their Boyne AC colours with pride, the young runners tackled the challenging course with determination, cheered on by proud parents and coaches who lined the finish line to offer encouragement.

Leading the charge was Seamus Keenan, who delivered an outstanding performance, finishing in 16:46 to claim the title of second junior overall. His pace and composure were a true credit to the club, setting the tone for the rest of the Boyne AC athletes.

The Brodigan brothers, Malachy and Cormac, tackled the undulating course with grit and determination, both showing their growing strength as athletes. Malachy crossed the line in 21:20, while Cormac followed closely with a time of 22:54. The course, with its twists, turns, and long stretches, demanded focus and endurance, and both brothers rose to the challenge with performances that reflected their dedication to training.

In the junior girls’ race, Dara Ellie Winters put on a superb display of running, finishing in an excellent 21:10. Meanwhile, the ever-determined Eilish Keenan stayed hot on her heels, delivering a gutsy performance to finish in 21:20. Not far behind, Shauna Rice ran a fantastic race, clocking in at 21:28, setting another personal best and highlighting the depth of talent among the Boyne AC junior girls.

Boyne AC continues to shine as a powerful force in athletics, fostering an environment where young athletes are encouraged to grow, compete, and enjoy the sport. The tough weather and tricky race conditions were no match for the club’s hardy competitors, who embodied resilience and pride from start to finish.

The club is open to new members aged seven years and over—come along and try it out before committing!
