Big names and local talent at 28th Drogheda Traditional Music Weekend

The Drogheda Traditional Music Weekend returns for its 28th year, running from Friday, November 22 to Sunday, November 24, showcasing some of Ireland’s finest traditional singers and musicians alongside well-known local talent.

Festival Highlights

Friday, Nov 22

8 PM: The festivities kick off with a singing concert featuring Gilly Cullen, Maedbh Mulligan, Patrick, and Kevin Branigan at The Morning Star, Tullyallen. Tickets: €5.

Saturday, Nov 23

10:30 AM: Vivienne Conway presents an illustrated talk on the Drogheda Harp Festival of 1842 at Highlanes Gallery, accompanied by harpist Jaymee Martin. Free entry.

2 PM: Folk legend Terry Woods in conversation with poet Peter Fallon at the historic Tholsel. Free entry.

8 PM: Headline concert with Matt Molloy, John Carthy, and Brian McGrath, with support from Máire Ní Choilm, honoring Caitlín Bean Uí Chairbre at Droichead Arts Centre. Tickets: €20.

Sunday, Nov 24

12 PM: Beyond the Veil workshop with Elizabeth Healy on traditional Revenant Songs at Droichead Arts Centre. Free entry.

3 PM: Sets Céilí featuring The Templehouse Trio at McHugh’s. Tickets: €10

3 PM: An open singing session with Eva and Paula Carroll at Droichead Arts Centre. Tickets: €5.

The weekend also features an outreach programme in local schools with renowned musicians Zoe Conway, John McIntyre, and Louise Mulcahy.
