Ballsgrove Youth Club members celebrate International Women’s Day

On Friday last, March 8th, the members of Ballsgrove Youth Club held a very special event in celebration of international Women’s Day.

Each young person in the club took the time to identify an inspiring woman in their life and the amazing children’s writer and facilitator Hugh Mc Elveen was in attendance to help them put together some words to describe their inspirational woman.

The range of the amazing people nominated by the members, mams, grannies, aunts, cousins, siblings , friends , youth workers and youth leaders made this event truly extraordinary!!!

Each of the youngsters brought their special person along and there was an award ceremony of appreciation, the young people each stood up one by one and told the large audience who they had chosen as their special person and why they had chosen them.

Confidence building was a huge part of this project and it was so empowering to see so many young people stand in front of a huge crowd and speak.

“I couldn’t be any prouder of them if I tried!!” said Ballsgrove Youth Club leader Chloe Kelly.

This event was made possible with funding from Louth Local Development

Jack O’Brien presented his granny Lorraine O’Brien with a certificate. On right is Ballasgrove Youth Club leader Chloe Kelly.
