The acclaimed multi-disciplinary artist Roger Hudson, known for his bold, genre-defying artworks and poetry, unveils a spectacular new exhibition Adventures in the Land of Ekphrasia, with collaborations from local creatives and artists, running from May 8–12th in the Old Methodist Church, Laurence Street, Drogheda.
The event explores “Ekphrasis”—the intersection where art forms overlap. Expect huge projections, dynamic sculpture-collages made from plastic toys, video art, poetry readings, music and live drama and engaging Cabaret. This is an and immersive installation like no other he has produced.
Following conventional exhibitions in national and international venues, Roger takes full creative control in this five-day art takeover, inspired by the scale and impact of his hoarding-sized installation named Consumer City curated in Peas Park, Belfast, he now wants to present his most ambitious, multimedia exhibition yet in Drogheda, the place he calls home.
Roger who is now 88, has had many lives through the decades and, having survived World War 2 as an evacuee from the London Blitz, his inner creative took him to the front lines to become a National Service photographer for the RAF. His life and art tell of these stories past and present and to remember this he launches his exhibition on the 80th commemoration of WW2.
Open daily with Free events over the 5 days , Adventures in the Land of Ekphrasia invites visitors of all ages into a wonderland of colour, critique, and creative collision.
