The annual Clogherhead St Stephen’s Day Chernobyl Swim will return this year for its 25th outing, with organisers inviting swimmers and spectators to take part in the long-running community tradition.
The sponsored swim will take place on Friday, 26 December 2025 at Clogherhead RNLI Lifeboat Station, and is once again being organised by CCI, continuing a quarter-century of fundraising and festive fun by the sea.
The event has become a popular fixture on the local calendar, drawing participants of all ages who brave the cold waters in support of charitable causes, while also attracting large crowds who come along to enjoy the atmosphere.
Organisers are encouraging everyone to come down on the day to support the swimmers and enjoy the occasion. All participants are asked to register their name before taking part, with registration open at the RNLI Lifeboat Station from 11.30am.
The Chernobyl Swim has grown into a much-loved St Stephen’s Day tradition in Clogherhead, combining community spirit, charity fundraising and seasonal celebrations in a unique seaside setting.
