An amazing day for ACE AC at Louth Cross Country Championships

It was an amazing day yesterday for ACE AC at the uneven age Louth Cross Country Championships held in the Bellurgan. 

Muireann Chamas got the day off to a good start by securing a Louth medal with her 7th place finish in the girls u9’s with Clara Plunkett also running very well.

Newcomer Caleb Collins had a good performance in the highly competitive boys u9 race while, in the u11 girls Sophie Black and the ever improving Lucey Reynolds also competed well.

Up next was the boys’ u11s with 27 athletes competing for the Louth title. Ruairi Cooney, running out of age finished in 8th place with Ollie Marron continuing his great form just behind him in 9th.

Hannah Black was up next in the girls u13s and she had a good race despite running a year out of age.

In the u13 boys Tayo Lawrence, Seamus Sheridan, Alphie Marron and Samuel Plunkett ran very well as a team, and as a result they secured Louth team Bronze.

 Ace ACs first county champion of the day came in the girls’ u15s with National medal winner Chloe Cooney securing Gold and another Louth title. What made this race more special was the performance of Kate O’Donnell who secured Louth bronze despite running out of age. Carla Nugent was an impressive 7th giving the 3 girls a team Gold.

Daniel Hanley and Tadgh Ford Dunne battled very well in a competitive boys’ u15 race just missing out on medals.

In the under 17 girls Ace AC had an impressive six runners. Sholah   Lawrence, the National schools champion, secured second, followed closely by Eimear Cooney with bronze and Ciara O’Connor in 4th. Chloe Hanley, Isabella Garcia and Kate Culhanne also had strong races. The u17 girls’ team also secured gold.

Donal Nugent of Irelands fittest family with daughter Carla who was in the Ace girls u15 gold medal team. 

Ace AC produced their second Louth-champion of the day in the under 17 boys’ race with Lorcan Forde Dunne grabbing gold in impressive style. Shay O’Donnell came third.  Fergus Nolan, Niall Murray and Rhys Clark all competed well in the same race.

In the final two races of the day Danny Nugent and Neil Culhanne competed in the u19 6k with Danny impressive in second and Neil 4th.

Allie Garcia capped off a great day with a brilliant silver in the girls u19s race.
