Amazing performances for Boyne AC at All Ireland Schools Championships

Boyne AC had two athletes competing in the All Ireland Schools Championships in Tullamore recently which resulted in a 4th place finish for Oliver Carolan in the junior boys Javelin, missing out on a podium place by just 80cm! And an 8th place finish for Euan Canniffe in a very tough senior boys Discus.

Competing against the absolute best in the country, these two young men worked hard to reach these finals, qualifying through both North Leinster and then Leinsters to secure their place, a super achievement from both.

A day later, it was back to Tullamore for the first day of the Leinster Pairs and u12/u13 Track and Field Championships.

Once again, there were amazing performances from all the young Boyne AC athletes in action, with many competing for the first time at a major championship.

It was a Gold medal winning performance in the u11 long jump for Isabelle Winters and Hila Raji, and a 4th place finish in the 60m sprint, and both now qualify for the All Irelands in July. Hila was also part of the Louth relay team who secured a bronze medal in their event.

Next to the podium it was a bronze in the u10 60m sprint for Aoife McCabe and Florrie Levins, and a 4th place finish in the 500m, securing their place in the national final.

In the boys’ event, Leyton Byrne and Cillian Hickey were part of the silver medal winning Louth relay team. And great performances on the day too from Garvin Lundon, Charlie Kelly, Bonnie Hegarty and Ross Byrne.
