All-Ireland silver for Boyne AC’s rising star Jack Garvey

A year of hard work, sweat, and dreams paid off for Boyne AC’s Jack Garvey last Sunday when he celebrated his greatest success on the outdoor track by winning silver in the All-Ireland 2000-metre U17 steeplechase.

The race was an intense battle, with Garvey skilfully navigating the jumps and water obstacles, persistently chasing the leaders. In the final 100 meters, he gave it his all and secured a well-deserved silver medal. His mother, Gina, too nervous to watch, was present to support him.

This silver medal is just one of many accolades Garvey has earned this year. He was a crucial member of his school’s cross country team, winning gold at the North Leinster Championship and another gold in the 1500m Leinster steeplechase championship.

Having kicked off the year by winning the U18 Kearney McBride race Garvey went on to achieve double gold in the Louth Championships, along with medals at the Tailteann Games and Blackrock races, among others.

Remarkably, Jack only took up athletics two years ago, and his future in the sport looks exceedingly bright.

His rapid rise and numerous achievements have made him a young athlete to watch, generating much excitement about what lies ahead for him. One can’t help but be excited about the future for this talented young man.
