ALDI seeks support for Irish Cancer Society’s Marathon in a Month campaign

Participants asked to run, jog, swim, cycle, or walk a marathon during July!

ALDI is once again sponsoring the Irish Cancer Society’s Marathon in a Month campaign in 2022 which is being supported by TV, and former Ireland Rugby Sevens star Greg O’Shea, who is calling on the public to take part and raise vital funds to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland.

Marathon in a Month aims to get people moving and raise much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society in the process. Participants are asked to run, jog, swim, cycle, or walk the distance of a marathon (42km) over the course of July. Best of all, you can do it at your own speed and in your own time. It’s your race and you can decide how you make it to the finish line.

To take part, all you need to do is register, set up a fundraising page and ask your family, friends, and colleagues to support you. After that, you just need to get moving!

It’s so easy to register and costs nothing!

  1. Register at cancer.ie.
  2. Download the Strava app and link it to your fundraising page.
  3. Update your fundraising page. Make sure to include a picture of yourself and update your story.
  4. Share, Share, Share. Copy the link to your fundraising page and share it on your Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp accounts.
  5. Start walking, running, jogging, swimming, or cycling. From July 1st you can start building up your kms and share your runs on your fundraising page.

ALDI staff and customers, along with Irish Cancer Society supporters have helped to raise €1.9 million for cancer services and research since 2016. Funds raised will support life changing cancer research and provide essential services for people living with cancer and their families. Donations help to provide free information and support, counselling sessions, travel for patients to and from their treatment, end of life care and much more.

How your donation helps:

  • €25 can help cover the cost of driving a cancer patient to and from chemotherapy
  • €50 helps to provide equipment for a Night Nurse
  • €60 covers a counselling session
  • €375 pays for one night of Night Nursing
