Drogheda’s Ace Athletics Club have started a drive to raise funds to be in a position to purchase their own land and a place they can call home.
To secure the long term future of the club and enable the best future development for their athletes, they believe they need to anchor the club at a permanent base.
A club spokesperson told Drogheda Life that whilst they will be eternally indebted to St Oliver’s Community College for their ongoing generosity with the use of their facilities to date, they are now passionate about anchoring themselves on their own grounds.
Since the inception of the club just three years ago and despite the challenges posed by COVID, the athletes have continuously delivered truly outstanding achievements both on the track and in cross country championships.
Having secured many Leinster and National titles, they could not be prouder this past week, when one of their young members Neil Culhane, was announced as the captain of the Irish team traveling to the UK next Saturday, to compete in the Annual SIAB Track and Field.
Such is the incredible calibre of the athletes that have been entrusted in their care and the committee and the coaches of Ace athletics, want to ensure they provide the best possible development opportunities for these young athletes long into the future.
The club caters for children as young as seven years old who come to training in all weathers to enjoy a fun and hugely supportive session.
They have set up a GoFund.Me page in order to raise funds to purchase their own land where they can continue the highest standard of support and coaching.
They are asking the people of Louth, Meath and beyond to donate as much or as little as they can in order to help them reach their goal and serve the Drogheda and surrounding areas for decades to come.
They are asking people to log onto https://gofund.me/376c61af and donate what they can and also to share with family and friends both at home and abroad.
