Ace AC runners Eimear and Shea secure Leinster Cross Country medals

The even age Leinster Cross Country Championships were held in stormy conditions in Dunboyne on Sunday with top 12 positions securing medals and automatic qualification for National Championships.

Ace AC came away with two individual medals, both in the u18 age category. The u18s were mixed with u20s and Eimear Cooney secured a brilliant 4th position overall and u18 3rd. Eimear started very well in what were very windy conditions and managed to hold onto 3rd in what was a very strong Field.

Under 18 European Championship 1500m qualifier Shea O’Donnell was 15th overall and a strong 7th in the boys u18 race. Shea normally prefers the track, however again proved what a strong all-rounder he is, with another Leinster XC medal.

Ace AC also secured various team medals with Taylor Gregory finishing 38th in the u14 boys and Caoimhe Carolan u12 finishing 29th out of 127 participants. Both athletes secured medals as part of Louth county teams.

There were many other good Ace AC performers on the day with u12 Ella Doyle impressing in what was only her second ever XC race, while Ciara O’Connor impressed in 22nd in the mixed u18-u20 girls race, despite only being an u17 athlete.
