A very special musical treat in McHughs Venue

Since he took over the reins at McHughs some months ago, Al Cooney (Buddio to his friends) has upped the tempo when it comes to the musicians playing the Venue.

In a few weeks’ time, on July 2nd to be precise, lovers of the blues are in for a very special treat when a gentleman by the name of Richard Farrell brings his band to the Cord Road venue.

Originally from Dublin, Richard has been based in Denmark since 2015 where he has won three Danish Music Awards plays with an all-star cast of Danish musicians. Think folk, jazz, soul and blues all played with a driven vibe and you are somewhere close…

Since his arrival in Denmark Farrell has been writing, recording and singing for musicians and producers from all around the world under his own name and under the moniker, J Fitz.

He has released songs through Universal Music and had highly successful releases with his collaborations with some tracks being streamed over 10 million times on Youtube and Spotify.

In February he released his new LP, “Bathing In Cold Water”, on vinyl and digitally which was all recorded live (2 songs contain overdubs) in Copenhagen, recorded and mixed by Lars Heiberg Andersen and mastered at Kasablanka Mastering in Paris.

The album, which has been receiving rave reviews from the music press all over Europe, features an all-star cast of musicians from Copenhagen and catches Richard and his band live and a studio setting – raw, groovy, charismatic and most of all, real!

The band consists of Richard Farrell on vocals, guitar and piano, Lars Emil Riis Madsen (Keys/piano), Spencer Gross (bass) and Lars Heiberg Andersen on drums.
