On Friday last one of Drogheda’s most inspirational women presented ten thousand Euros to two others who are having a huge impact on the lives of people in the Drogheda area affected by the negative impacts of drugs or alcohol.
Natalie Kelly, the woman behind the Drogheda Dolls Facebook page, is something of a dynamo when it comes to raising funds for good causes and on Friday she dropped in to the Red Door Project on the Dublin Road with a cheque worth €10,000.
This money was part of the magnificent €53,000 that was raised by the Drogheda Dolls in their Christmas Appeal. Other organisations to benefit from the appeal include St. Vincent de Paul, Ballsgrove Boxing Club, Palliative Care, Moneymore GFC and many more.
The recipients of this €10,000 were Louise Mahony and Joanne O’Dwyer, two women who are doing phenomenal work at the Red Door Project which is changing the lives of people who are fighting addiction.
Louise told Drogheda Life that the donation from the Drogheda Dolls was very welcome, and also very timely, given the recent huge increases in energy costs.
“We are very lucky to have a large premises for our services but the bills for heating and lighting are huge and it has been a big worry” Louise said.
“This generous donation will mean we can at least keep the lights on. Thankfully we are now coming into the summer and heating bills will not be headache for a few months at least.”
