A great day for Ace youngsters at Ras Na hEireann in Dunleer

Young Ace AC athletes had a great day at the Ras Na hEireann in Dunleer on Sunday with a combined haul of six medals.

Ace started the day in style in the u9 girls’ race, with a fourth place medal for Cathryn Cummings. Clara Plunkett also performed very well, in what was her first ever race.

Then in the U11 boys Ruairi Cooney won Ace their second medal of the afternoon finishing in fifth place. His teammates, Caleb Collins and Sean Clare, also ran really well on what was a very tough course. Sophie Black competed well the girls U11 race.

In the u13 category, Hannah Black had her best race to date, finishing 18th in a strong field just behind teammate Caoimhe Carolan, who was running out of age. Lacey Mc Keever and Farrah Smith also impressed.

The boys U13 race featured Seamie Sheridan, Ollie Marron, (out of age) Oisin Murphy, Joseph Mc Cann, and Dylan Garcia who all ran really well as did Niamh Finnerty and Lauren Faulkner in the u15 race.

The u17 girls’ race featured u16 athlete Chloe Cooney and she secured a medal in a strong 4th place with training partner Sholah Lawernce winning a brilliant Gold in the same race.  Chloe Hanley also ran well.

Jamie OReilly, Fergus Nolan, Rhys Clarke, Cillian Sheridan and Daniel Hanley made up a boys under 17 team that won a Gold team medal. Clarke also secured a medal for his impressive 4th place finish.

U18 athletes Eimear Cooney and Isabella Garcia ran in the senior ladies race.  Eimear was forced to retire early with a slight injury while Isabella ran a strong race despite her young age.

Finally, Ace  had some competitors in the senior “fun run” with Adrian Black, Angela Kearney, Ian Marron and Noel Smith all running well.  Ian Marron came away with Gold.
