All year round the good people at the Drogheda & District Support 4 Older People offer a wide range of useful services from their offices at Haymarket Bridge but at Christmas time they really push the boat out.
One of the really valuable and popular services they offer is called “Good Morning Drogheda” – a free morning phone call to older people living on their own to check they are safe and well.
Christmas is a great celebration and of course children are really excited by the prospect of Santa calling with gifts, but for older people, especially those living alone, it can be a lonely time.
So, another vital service offered by D&DS4OP is their special Santa run to older people in the wider Drogheda area who will be home alone for Christmas.
On Tuesday morning Santa and a team of little helpers from D&DS4OP gathered at their Distribution Centre in Greenhills and packed their cars with bags of Christmas goodies which they delivered to 120 older people living in the area.
The gifts were kindly sponsored by Coca-Cola and Louth County Council. This is the fourth year the elves have been active and hoping to bring some Christmas cheer.
