Gardaí Community Engagement Team on West Street Today with Focus on E-Scooters

The Garda Community Engagement Team will be at St Peter’s Plaza in West Street today (Wednesday).

If there is anything you wish to talk to them about feel free to call into them at their van.

They had a great response engaging with the public over the last day or two, meeting the business community and dealing with the prevention and detection of crime.

The Garda say Wednesday is a national day of action in relation to powered personal transporters such as electric scooters.

They said: “One of our primary focuses will be the detection of offences in respect of these vehicles. Our team will be active on West Street and also in the wider community of County Louth enforcing this legislation.

“If there are any issues any members of the public would like to discuss with us, feel free to call to St Peter’s Plaza.”

Many local politicians would like to see the Garda  Community Engagement Vehicle on West Street permanently.

They feel there are few incidents of anti-social behaviour on the town’s main thoroughfare when the Gardai are so visible.
