A cheque for €3,420 raised in memory of legendary Drogheda musician, the late Anthony “Stoney” Burke has been presented to the Oncology unit of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
The money was raised at a memorial concert featuring an army of local bands and musicians in McHugh’s on Bank Holiday Monday last.
There was a massive attendance at the gig organised by Stoney’s great friends Brian Owens, Tom Maguire and Roberta Creighton Smith.
Anthony’s wife Majella handed over the cheque to the delighted staff at the hospital this week.
She said:” The funds were raised during a special remembrance gig held in Stoney’s honour, a night full of music, memories and love.
“Thank you to everyone who attended, contributed and supported this incredible cause. Your generosity will help support the same unit that cared for Stoney with such compassion.
“He may be gone but his spirit continues to bring people together and make a difference.”
