Ace AC’s under 18 Athlete Eimear Cooney travelled to Leeds UK at the weekend to run for Team Ireland in the U20 Celtic Cross Country on Saturday.
Ireland travelled with a team of four with Louth athlete Dearbhla Allen also on the team alongside her.
Eimear isn’t just a Cross Country specialist, she is the current 1500M national Champion. At only 17 years old, this was Eimear’s seventh international appearance.
Despite being a couple of years out of age, and running a 6k Cross Country for the very first time, Eimear was super competitive from the start.
In what were tough hilly conditions on a cold day in Leeds, Eimear started aggressively and really fought hard to stay in the mix, and finish in a very impressive 23rd place.
