€22M Boost: Uisce Éireann Begins Major Project to Support 5,000 New Drogheda Homes

Uisce Éireann has begun a major infrastructure project to upgrade the wastewater network in North Drogheda, representing a €22 million investment in the region.

The project is designed to increase wastewater capacity and support the development of over 5,000 new homes.

The works involve the construction of a new wastewater pumping station off Twenties Lane and 2.3km of sewer pipeline.

This significant upgrade will provide more reliable services for both current and future residents and businesses in the area.

According to Uisce Éireann’s Padraic Fitzgerald, the project will address current capacity constraints and “help to unlock housing and economic potential in the area.

“He added that Uisce Éireann is working closely with developers to ensure the necessary infrastructure is in place for new homes.

The project, which is being carried out by GMC Utilities Group Ltd., is expected to be completed in 2027.

The works will require some localised traffic management at Ballymakenny Road, Listoke, and Ashton Village, with crews working to minimise disruption.
