Drogheda Sinn Féin taking to the waters of the Boyne in the name of unity

Sinn Féin Councillor Debbie McCole has thrown down the gauntlet to other Louth County Councillors to take up the challenge of the upcoming Raft Race which takes place on Sunday 1st June.

Cllr McCole said “The ‘Battle of the Boyne’ raft race will raise funds for the Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Inver Colpa Rowing Club. It promises to be a fun day and hopefully a dry day for those taking part.

“Sinn Féin’s raft will be aptly named ‘Unity Cruiser’ and will be crewed by local members of the Party. We have taken part in previous years and were successful back in 2015 and we hope to mark the 10 years with another win!”

Cllr McCole explained “We chose the name of our raft because we believe a United Ireland will unlock the potential of our island and provide the basis on which a stronger and fairer society can be built. On Sunday 1st June, we hope to unlock the potential of our crew and hope the raft has a strong and fair base to stay afloat.

“I’m challenging the other Councillors in the area to get a raft and try to beat us. It promises to be a great day’s craic and is always a brilliant family day out.”
