Many of us spent the Christmas break eating and sleeping too much, but not Danny Nugent of Ace Athletics Club, he has been pounding the pavements, picking up exceptional times along the way.
On New Year’s Day, Danny finished second in the junior category of the Tom Brennan 5k in a personal best time of 15.03. He came home 12th overall in a race that was won by Efram Gidey in a time of 13.43.
Danny’s improvement has been impressive to watch this year. In February 2023, he won the Clogherhead 5k in a time of 16.10. He smashed that time at the D& D 5k in 15.25 only a few weeks ago and another PB today in the Phoenix Park.
Along the way, he also won the Leinster cross country title in November. Super stuff from Danny. He will now focus his attention on the schools cross country event in a few weeks’ time.
