M1 to close at night-time between Junctions 10 and 16 to facilitate works

LOUTH COUNTY COUNCIL

TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ROADS

SECTION 75 ROADS ACT, 1993

Louth County Council hereby gives notice of its decision to close the M1 Mainline from between Junctions 10 and Junction 16 on the M1 at night-time over a six night period to facilitate Celtic Roads Group (CRG) to carry out works on the three overhead variable message gantry signs.

The Closures & Diversion route(s) will be as follows: 

  1. Southbound Mainline section of the M1 Junction 11 to J10 – for 2 nights within the period 29th January 2024 – 26th February 2024. 

– Diversion using the following national roads; Junction 11 to Junction 10 via the R132 and N51.

Diversions will be in place, at night-time only, between the hours of 19.30-06.30. 

  1. Southbound Mainline section of the M1 Junction 16 to J14 – for 2 nights within the period 29th January 2024 – 26th February 2024. 

– Diversion using the following national roads; Junction 16 to Junction 14 via the N52 and N33.

Diversions will be in place, at night-time only, between the hours of 19.30-06.30. 

  1. Northbound Mainline section of the M1 Junction 14 to J16 – for 2 nights within the period 29th January 2024 – 26th February 2024. 

– Diversion using the following national roads; Junction 14 to Junction 16 via the N33 and N52.

Diversions will be in place, at night-time only, between the hours of 19.30-06.30. 

The total duration of the roadworks is expected to be three nights, during which time the Junction 15 interchange slip road northbound and southbound may be closed.  It is the intention of Celtic Roads Group (CRG) to minimise the road closures within the above period. 

Contingency has been included in the period to allow for disruption to works due to weather conditions etc. and every effort will be made to complete works in less than the timescale mentioned.
