The incredible Brannigan family are the latest recipients of a Drogheda and District
Chamber/ Becton Dickinson Community Champions award, and no family has
earned it more.
Paddy, Lolo, Ciara and Orla played a huge role in bringing the Leinster Fleadh to
Drogheda recently, giving everyone throwback memories to the Fleadhs of 2018 and
2019 that saw hundreds of thousands of people visit the area.
The Leinster experience was smaller, but the buzz was incredible and showed what
can be delivered by the banks of the river Boyne.
The family is etched in Irish music, culture and folklore in the region and further
afield.
They constantly champion Drogheda as an entertainment venue, and it’s hoped the
Leinster Fleadh will encourage further major celebrations in the years to come.
“The Brannigan family is synonymous with music and dance – both here, nationally
and further afield. Their love of our traditions and culture can be infectious and the
recent fleadh showed what an outstanding location Drogheda is for events like that,”
Chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy, stated.
Catherina McGuirk, Plant Manager, BD, was delighted to meet such a talented family
who so engrained in their traditional roots.
“The Fleadh was incredible, and the family have such a love of music and dance. I
think it opened many eyes to Irish music and everyone enjoyed it,” she stated.
