Drogheda Christmas celebrations will return on Friday, 20th November with a festive pageant, live entertainment and Santa’s arrival by boat.
This year’s celebrations promise a festive experience with a difference, as the streets of Drogheda will come alive with a spectacular Christmas Carnival Pageant through the town, featuring traditional handmade lanterns, festive performers, and children from across Drogheda.
The magic will continue as the Christmas lights illuminate the streets, leading the celebrations towards Scotch Hall Shopping Centre, where families and visitors can enjoy live entertainment, music, dance and the spectacular lighting of the giant LED Christmas tree.
Santa to arrive on the Boyne
Santa Claus will make his arrival by boat along the River Boyne with the help of local heroes Boyne Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service.
He will then join the crowds for further festive entertainment before a fireworks display marks the start of the Christmas season in Drogheda.
Mayor of Drogheda Cllr Declan Power said:
The magic of Christmas lives in the enthusiasm of our young people. We are thrilled to collaborate with our local partners to create an event where the children are the true star of he show, bringing Drogheda to life for the Christmas season.
Families, children and visitors from across the region are encouraged to save the date, wrap up warm and join in the celebrations as Drogheda welcomes the most wonderful time of the year.
Mark your calendars: Friday, 20th November 2026. Christmas magic is coming to Drogheda!
