Six Louth schools to receive Climate Action Summer Works funding

Six Louth schools will receive climate action funding through the Summer Works Scheme for building and energy efficiency improvements.

Six schools in County Louth are set to receive funding under the Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.

Fine Gael TD Paula Butterly said the funding will support schools in carrying out building improvement works while also delivering climate action measures aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions, and lowering operating costs.

The six Louth schools included are Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Scoil Na Mbraithre Sn, Scoil Dairbhre Mixed, St Vincent’s Secondary School, St Louis Secondary School and Bush Post Primary School.

I’m delighted to see funding for schools in Louth as part of the rollout of the Climate Action Summer Works Scheme, Deputy Butterly said.

This scheme has allowed schools to undertake measures such as insulation upgrades, LED lighting installation, EV charger provision, bike-rack facilities to support active travel, and other climate-focused works alongside traditional maintenance.

She added: In particular, I’m delighted to see funding for the 6 schools in Louth, and I know the entire school community will benefit from this funding.

€80 million investment nationally

Across the country, 229 projects have been approved, with €80 million to be invested through the scheme.

Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton said: This €80 million investment will support schools across the country to improve the quality, sustainability, and energy efficiency of their buildings, creating better learning and working environments for students and staff.

This investment not only helps schools address important building needs but also contributes to our wider climate objectives by improving energy performance and reducing operating costs over time.

Deputy Butterly added: I want to congratulate all schools in Louth that received funding and look forward to seeing the completed works.
