It was a fantastic day for local sport as Louth GAA’s senior team captain, Sam Mulroy, was named the first-ever winner of the new Drogheda and District Chamber/Flogas Ireland ‘Sporting Heroes’ award.
The newly launched awards are set to shine a light on sporting talent from across the Drogheda area, recognising people from all grades and sectors. And to kick things off, who better than the man who led the Wee County to their first Leinster title in a whopping 68 years.
Sam’s connection to the local business community runs deep, as he is also the driving force behind Sam Mulroy Fitness, one of the Chamber’s esteemed members.
David Allen from sponsors, Flogas Ireland, was on hand to present the award to the Louth GAA superstar.
“What a year it was for Louth GAA and for Sam in particular. Winning Leinster was a huge achievement, and it will inspire continued growth in GAA in the area. With Louth GAA joining the Chamber in recent weeks and a new ground underway, the future is bright when it comes to all aspects of Gaelic Games locally,” stated Chamber CEO, Hubert Murphy.
