The new Boyne Link Road has officially opened in Drogheda, providing a new connection to Boyne Business Park and improved access for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.
The road links the Newtown Link Road with Boyne Business Park and the adjoining L-2307.
The project includes a two-way carriageway, public footpaths and public lighting built to current road standards.
Louth County Council says the new connection is designed to reduce traffic on the existing L-2307 while making it easier to access local businesses and employment areas.
It is also intended to provide a safer route for people walking and cycling to and from nearby workplaces.

The Boyne Link Road was funded by Louth County Council, the National Transport Authority and the Department of Transport.
Mayor of the Borough District of Drogheda Cllr Declan Power welcomed the completion of the project.
“The new Boyne Link Road is a very positive development for Drogheda. This new connection will make it easier for people to access local businesses and employment centres, while also creating a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists,” he said.
“Investment in infrastructure like this helps support economic growth, improves connectivity and enhances the quality of life for people living and working in the area. I am delighted to see this project completed and open for public use.”
Focus on access and road safety
David Jones, Director of Services for Major Capital Projects and Infrastructure Delivery, said the road would improve access to employment areas while providing better connections for all road users.
“The Boyne Link Road is an important piece of infrastructure that will improve access to key employment areas while enhancing safety and connectivity for all road users,” he said.
“The completion of this scheme reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to investing in infrastructure that supports sustainable growth and meets the needs of local communities and businesses.”
Louth County Council also thanked the stakeholders involved in delivering the project.
