Ace AC enjoyed a successful day at the Louth Cross Country Championships, with Chloe Cooney claiming the U19 girls’ title and the club’s U11 girls winning county team gold.

Cooney, an U18 athlete competing above her age group, marked her return to competition with an impressive victory in the U19 race.

It was the standout individual result of the day for Ace AC, while strong performances across several age groups added a number of team medals to the club’s haul.

U11 girls take county title

The U11 girls produced one of the club’s strongest team performances of the championships.

Millie Roche, Clara Plunkett, Cathryn Cumming, Maeve Reynolds and Una McEntee combined to secure the Louth team title and gold medals.

Their attention will now turn to the Leinster Championships in November, where the team will look to build on its county success.

There were also encouraging performances from younger Ace AC athletes.

Before the championship races began, Tom Roche and Roma Zarzycrk took part in the U8 non-competitive events, both finishing inside the top five of their races.

Finn Murphy finished fifth in the U9 boys’ race, while U10 athlete Harry Reilly stepped up to compete in the U11 boys and finished inside the top 10 against older opposition.
