Louth County Council offices and facilities to close during strike action

Louth County Council has warned of widespread disruption to services on Wednesday, 14th October due to planned national public sector strike action.

All council offices will be closed to the public, including County Hall and Town Hall in Dundalk, the Civic Offices on Fair Street in Drogheda and the Mid-Louth Civic Offices in Ardee.

Libraries, museums, archives, sports and leisure facilities, animal compounds and parks will also be closed.

The council is advising members of the public to use online services where possible, including ePlanning and motortax.ie.

Appointments may be affected

Scheduled appointments may also be disrupted, with customers to be contacted directly where possible.

Telephone and email services will be affected due to reduced staffing levels, meaning responses may take longer than usual.

The council said it will try to maintain essential operations throughout the day, but significant disruption should be expected and full service delivery cannot be guaranteed.

Emergency service remains available

Louth County Council’s emergency out-of-hours service will continue to operate.

Anyone with an urgent council-related issue, including emergency housing matters or roads-related emergencies, can contact the service on 042 933 5457.

For emergencies requiring Louth County Council Fire and Rescue Service, the National Ambulance Service or An Garda Síochána, people should call 999 or 112.

Services are expected to resume on Thursday, 15th October, although the council has warned that the ongoing work-to-rule may continue to affect service delivery.

Louth County Council apologised for any inconvenience and thanked the public for its patience and understanding.
