€60,098 announced for youth services across Louth and Meath.

Louth youth services funding worth €60,098 has been announced for projects across the Louth and Meath Education and Training Board area.

The capital funding is aimed at UBU-funded youth services and will support minor works, equipment purchases, and improvements to facilities.

Projects in County Louth named in the announcement include Dundalk Youth Centre, YWI Drogheda Southside, YWI Northside Youth Project, Deeside Youth Project, Boomerang Café Drogheda and FAI Dundalk.

UBU Your Place Your Space provides funding to targeted youth services supporting young people who may be marginalised, disadvantaged, or vulnerable. Education and Training Boards administer the scheme locally.

LMETB’s published youth work information lists a number of UBU-supported projects across Louth and Meath, including Boomerang Drogheda, Drogheda Southside, Dundalk Youth Centre and FAI Football in the Community Dundalk.

Deputy Butterly said:

“I am delighted to see this funding being provided to youth services across Louth and Meath. These organisations play a vital role in supporting young people, providing safe spaces where they can learn new skills, build confidence, make connections and access important supports.”

Funding for facilities and equipment

The funding will support a range of improvements, including ICT and digital infrastructure, building refurbishment works, safety upgrades, recreational equipment, accessibility measures and sustainability projects.

Deputy Butterly said:

“This investment will allow local youth services to upgrade facilities, purchase new equipment and improve accessibility, ensuring young people have access to modern, welcoming and inclusive spaces. I want to thank the staff, volunteers and youth workers who deliver such valuable services every day in our communities.”

UBU is designed to support young people aged 10 to 24 who are experiencing economic, social, or cultural disadvantage, with services covering areas including health and wellbeing, education, employment, and social connectedness.

LMETB administers youth funding across both counties and has responsibility for supporting the provision, coordination, administration, and assessment of youth work services in its functional area.

Deputy Butterly added:

“Investing in our young people is one of the best investments we can make. I welcome this funding and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on youth services and young people throughout Louth and Meath.”
