Women take to the water for 15th Northeast Dip in the Nip
A huge congratulations to all of the women who took part in the 15th Northeast Dip in the Nip on Sunday, 13th September, helping to raise funds for cancer services here in the North East.
Women from across the region came together for the annual female-only event, which has become a special fixture in the local fundraising calendar over the past 15 years.
Held on a private beach, the Dip in the Nip brings women together to brave the sea while raising funds for NECRET and cancer services at the North East Oncology Unit at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Taking the plunge for many different reasons
Women take part in the Dip for many different reasons.
Some do it in memory of someone they have lost, others in support of a friend or family member going through cancer, while cancer survivors are also among those who take part.
For others, it is an opportunity to do something positive while supporting cancer patients and services in their own community.
Whatever their individual reason for taking part, Sunday’s event once again brought women from across the North East together for the cause.
Celebrating 15 years
This year’s Dip marked an important milestone, with the event celebrating its 15th year.
Over that time, the Northeast Dip in the Nip has become a well-known local fundraiser, combining a very personal challenge for those taking part with support for cancer services in Drogheda and the wider North East.
Congratulations to every woman who stepped onto the beach and into the water on Sunday, along with the organisers, volunteers and everyone who supported participants with their fundraising.
