Uisce Éireann submits plans for water supply upgrade in Meath and Louth

Uisce Éireann has submitted a planning application for proposed upgrades to Staleen Water Treatment Plant in Co. Meath. Subject to planning approval, the investment would support a more reliable and resilient drinking water supply for homes and businesses across counties Meath and Louth.

If approved, the proposed upgrades are expected to benefit more than 70,000 customers by strengthening the resilience of the local water network and supporting greater reliability of water supply across the region.

The project forms part of Uisce Éireann’s ongoing efforts to enhance water infrastructure and help ensure communities in Meath and Louth continue to have access to a safe and dependable drinking water supply.

Uisce Éireann’s Programme Manager, John McElwaine, said: “The submission of this planning application is an important step towards strengthening water infrastructure in Meath and Louth. The proposed improvements will help support the long-term water needs of communities across both counties by enhancing the reliability and resilience of the water supply.”

Technical, environmental, and engineering assessments have informed the planning application to ensure the proposed works meet the needs of the area while protecting the surrounding environment.

Uisce Éireann will continue to engage with local communities, elected representatives, and stakeholders throughout the planning process and will keep customers informed as the project progresses through the next stages of development.
