Update: Tholsel Building/Shop Street, Drogheda

Louth County Council can confirm that a contractor attended the site of the Tholsel Building over the weekend and removed loose debris from the structure. These precautionary works were completed to make the area safe.

When inspection of the works has taken place, it is expected that the temporary restrictions on pedestrian movements in the area can be removed.

A full inspection of the wall will now be undertaken to determine the extent of permanent repairs that are required. It is anticipated that future restoration works may require longer-term temporary safety measures, including the closure of the adjacent footpath, to facilitate the works.

The Council would like to thank the public for their cooperation and understanding.

Further updates on the inspection and restoration plan will be issued in due course.
