Maggie Finnegan, Head of Catering at Nua Healthcare Services in Gormanston, has been named Catering Manager of the Year at the Gold Medal Catering Awards.
Originally from Balbriggan, Maggie trained in Culinary Arts at Cathal Brugha Street College and has spent more than 35 years working across the catering and hospitality sector.
She joined Nua Healthcare Services over three years ago and oversaw the design and set-up of the kitchen at its Gormanston facility, which provides mental health care and rehabilitation for people with intellectual disabilities.
Maggie said working in a hospital setting has been the most meaningful chapter of her career, adding that food can bring comfort, dignity, joy and a sense of normality to patients.
