While thousands of Louth supporters were focused on the big match on Saturday, a large crowd made its way to Bettystown Beach, where the annual National Sandcastle & Sculpture Competition enjoyed one of its biggest and most successful events to date.
An estimated 3,000 people, including competitors, families and spectators, packed the beach to enjoy a glorious day of sunshine, a gentle sea breeze and an incredible display of creativity.
Children, families and talented sculptors transformed the golden sand into castles, mythical creatures, sea life and imaginative works of art, providing entertainment for visitors throughout the day. The perfect weather created an ideal setting for what has become one of the highlights of the summer on the Meath coast.
Organisers were delighted with the huge turnout and thanked all their supporters, Meath Co Council, Drogheda Credit Union East Meath Branch, Sharon Tolan, The Cottages, Gilnna’s of Laytown, Mace, Aldi and Pats Supermarket. everyone who chose a day at the beach, along with the many volunteers, judges, beach wardens who helped make the event such a success.
