Big week for Louth as two Scratch Card players win €350,000

It has been a lucky week for Louth after two players from the county celebrated major National Lottery Scratch Card wins worth a combined €350,000.

The winners were recently visited by the National Lottery’s “Winnies” team following top prize wins on the Money Multiplier and Mega Money Multiplier Scratch Cards.

One player won €100,000 on a Money Multiplier Scratch Card purchased at Hannon’s Centra in Ballsgrove, Drogheda.

A second Louth winner claimed €250,000 on a Mega Money Multiplier Scratch Card bought at Owen Watters XL in Annavackey, Dundalk.

The celebrations come as players in Galway and Dublin also picked up top prizes on other National Lottery Instant Win games including All Cash Surprise and Cash Bubble.

The National Lottery said both Louth winners are already making plans for celebrations and dream upgrades following their life-changing wins.

Mega Money Multiplier

A Louth woman called into Owen Watters’ XL, Annavackey, Hackballscross, in Dundalk and picked up a €10 Mega Money Multiplier Scratch Card, on which she won the top prize of €250,000.

“I had some change when I was paying for a few bits, so decided to buy myself a Scratch Card. I waited until later that evening to scratch it, and I was convinced I was seeing things. I got my husband to double check, and he confirmed my suspicions when he said, ‘I think there’s €250,000 on this’. I jumped up and just had to get out in the fresh air to try and calm down!”

The Louth woman admitted that she has celebrated briefly, she has her sights on what’s next for her win.

“We’ve already gone out for dinner to celebrate, but I am looking forward to doing some home renovations and making a donation to a charity that’s close to my heart.”

Money Multiplier

Another Louth woman also enjoyed Scratch Card success after she scratched her way to victory winning €100,000 in the €5 Money Multiplier Scratch Card. The winning Scratch Card was sold at Hannon’s Centra, Ballsgrove, Drogheda, Co. Louth.

“I was just at home, sitting back with a cup of tea and scratching the card when I thought I must be seeing things. A family member was sitting across from me, so I asked them to double check it.

When the win was confirmed, the shock and excitement really kicked in, but I still had to go back to normal life and let it all sink in my mind was definitely elsewhere!

We shared the news with the family, and everyone is over the moon. We’ll have to plan a proper family celebration soon. To be honest, I’m still in shock,  it feels like someone’s going to tell me it’s all a big joke!”

All Cash Surprise

Also celebrating a top prize win was a Galway syndicate, who were left in total disbelief after scratching their way to a €150,000 win on an All Cash Surprise. The €7 Scratch Card was purchased in Centra Carnmore, Oranmore, Co Galway.

“I was buying a present for someone and before I left the shop, I said sure I’ll get one for us too. I never thought we’d actually win! I always thought if I won big that I’d be jumping up and down, but shock really does take over.”

As the syndicate lets the news sink in, they have already started to think about plans for their winnings.

“Well first thing first, we’re heading out to a fancy spot for dinner. We might also upgrade our upcoming holiday to a five-star hotel. We wanted to have our cheque in hand first before making any plans though”.

Cash Bubble Instant Win Game

A Dublin man also visited the National Lottery’s Winners Room to collect his cheque worth €50,000 after scooping the top prize on the Cash Bubble Instant Win Game online.

“It was a very normal Monday, and I was wrapping up work. I remembered to buy a EuroMillions ticket, and with some previous winnings, I played the online game Cash Bubble. When the €50,000 prize popped up on my screen, I couldn’t believe my eyes. It still hasn’t sunk in yet, but I’ve no doubt I’ll be booking a holiday to celebrate very soon!”

Meanwhile, Friday night’s EuroMillions jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €85 million. Players dreaming of how they would celebrate their win are reminded that tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.30pm deadline for sales tomorrow evening.
