Rising Soprano Jade Phoenix Steps In for Drogheda Classical Music Concert

Drogheda Classical Music has confirmed a late change to this evening’s concert at St Peter’s Church of Ireland, with rising soprano Jade Phoenix stepping in for Claudia Boyle, who has had to withdraw due to a sudden bout of acute illness.

The organisers said they are delighted that Jade Phoenix, Irish National Opera’s current leading lady, has agreed to save the day by performing this evening. Claudia Boyle was forced to pull out at short notice and Drogheda Classical Music has wished her a speedy recovery.

Jade Phoenix is one of Ireland’s fastest rising soprano stars and has come to prominence in recent years through her performances at Wexford Festival Opera. Her most recent success saw her receive a five star review from The Irish Times and the Best Performance of the Year award from Operawire for her role as Rosetta in Marco Tutino’s La Ciociara.

Opera Journal praised her performance, stating: “The young soprano giving an amazing performance through some challenging scenes, singing absolutely superbly. The scene where she took to the front of the stage to offer up a song of prayer was a revelation, winning over the audience as she lived through the trauma and post trauma brilliantly.”

Those attending the concert can expect Jade Phoenix to join baritone Seán Boylan and pianist Dearbhla Collins for what organisers say will still be an evening showcasing the very best that Ireland and the wider classical music world has to offer.

Drogheda Classical Music expressed its gratitude to Jade Phoenix for travelling to Drogheda at short notice to ensure the concert could go ahead as planned.

Patrons who no longer wish to attend the concert as a result of the change will receive a refund. Those seeking a refund are advised to contact the box office at Droichead Arts Centre to arrange this.
