An online Lotto player from Louth who won the €7,129,505 jackpot in the 18 October draw has collected their cheque at Lottery Headquarters.
The new Lotto millionaire said the win was discovered during a late night scroll on their phone, with the news quickly spreading to the rest of the family.
“I was watching television with my husband and there wasn’t much happening during the programme, so I started scrolling on my phone. I noticed an email about a win, checked my account and then turned to my husband and said I thought I had won the Lotto. He didn’t believe me at all and didn’t even look away from the television. When he realised I was serious, we were both in total shock. It was close to midnight and I even rang my mother with the news. I think the whole family stayed awake until about 3am, just trying to take it all in,” the winner said.
The Louth woman has already made her first purchase with the winnings and is planning how to enjoy the rest.
“The first thing I bought was VIP tickets to see Westlife. I am really looking forward to that. After that, my dream is to buy a holiday home in Ireland. I still cannot believe this has happened, but I am excited to celebrate with my family.”
