Mayor’s Morning Walk Turns Heartwarming on Termonfeckin Beach

A morning walk turned into a moment to remember for Mayor of Drogheda, Michelle Hall, when she came across a baby seal stranded on Termonfeckin Beach last week.

Out just after 7am, Mayor Hall spotted the young seal alone on the sand and was about to call for help — but then, to her surprise, the determined little pup began to shuffle back toward the water as the tide came in.

She filmed the moment as the seal made its slow and steady journey back to the Irish Sea. The heartwarming clip has since been viewed thousands of times online, with locals describing it as “beautiful,” “moving,” and “the wonders of nature.”

“It was amazing to see him make it back safely,” Mayor Hall said. “A really special start to the morning.”

There’s a well-known seal colony near Clogherhead Pier, and it’s hoped the young pup has since reunited with its mother.
