Deputy Ged Nash has been in contact with several of the most senior HSE officials in the country this morning in an effort to resolve the failure by the agency to execute the scheduled delivery of Covid-19 vaccines to the No. 47 Medical Practice on Fair Street.
“As a result of my engagement with very senior decision-makers, I am confident that this debacle will now be resolved” he said.
“It should not have come to this sorry pass and the anxiety caused to patients allied with the basic failure of the HSE to properly communicate with the surgery on a matter as important as vaccine delivery is frankly unforgivable.
“I was first contacted about this issue last night by the family of a local man in his 90s who was lined up to receive his vaccine today and I got to work on the issue straight away with the practice concerned.
“I was subsequently contacted by several more vaccine candidates and their families.
“I am very hopeful that this will be resolved and will be treated with the urgency it demands by the HSE.”
