Outcomers Drogheda, in association with LGBT Ireland, are to give a special #PrideMonth twist to their regular monthly Zoom-in next Thursday.
For the month that’s in it, they are celebrating Pride@ the Pictures with a one-off, special screening of the Short Film: Invisible Women – on Zoom this Thursday 24th June at 19.30.
There will be an exclusive Q&A afterwards with the VIP’s of the film: Irish LGBTQ+ revolutionaries Luchia Fitzgerald and Angela Cooper. This is all completely FREE but registration is essential.
“Invisible Women” is the story of the lesbian pioneers who formed the Northern branch of the Gay Liberation Front in the UK and put women’s rights on the agenda.
Directed by Alice Smith, and produced by Joseph Ingham, “Invisible Women” features two extraordinary Irish women: Angela Cooper from Dublin and Luchia Fitzgerald from Cork, who have spent the last half a century fighting for their rights as women and as lesbians.

Angela’s mum got on the ferry to give birth in Manchester, whereas Luchia was born in The Magdalene Home in Blackrock in Cork and fled Ireland to Manchester.
Once Angela and Luchia met a friendship started which led to the start of the first Gay Liberation Front outside of London, the first women’s centre in the north of England – home to many Irish women over the years – as well as mounting the fight against Section 28 in 1988.
“Invisible Women” is a genuinely revelatory story filled with hope, optimism and triumph.
